Faux Rock #3 Artwork

Acadia Kandora, MFA Printmaking Student

An artwork I made my first year in graduate school here at the University of Arkansas involving two rocks that were a part of a larger series called “My Faux rock collection.” The one on the right I found right outside the Sculpture studio on campus. I then took it in, 3D-Scanned it, printed it in teal PLA plastic, painted it, and placed it with its original to talk about resource extraction and climate change issues. With the wild idea that maybe we could mass-producible faux rocks to replace the ones taken from the earth. The work’s title is “Faux Rock #3 (from the Faux Rock Collection), medium: rock, PLA Plastic, paint, and dirt Year: 2019. I love this work because it combines something that I found on campus and combines it with themes surrounding my artwork.
